AMAC supports your legislation, H.R. 603 – Health Savings Account Expansion Act of 2019. This legislation increases the maximum allowed HSA contribution amount, expands HSAs availability from only high deductible plans to lower deductible plans, allows HSAs to pay for over-the counter
medications, and allows the use of HSAs to pay premiums and direct primary care costs which is currently prohibited under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
AMAC supports providing as many options as possible for seniors struggling with health and prescription costs across the country. We concur with your statement upon offering this legislation that “healthcare continues to be one of the most important yet contentious problems facing the country. It’s critical we find ways to work together and I believe HSA expansion is an area ripe for common-sense cooperation.” Through our more than 2 million
