Dear Representatives Roy, Biggs and Johnson:
On behalf of the more than 2 million members of AMAC – the Association of Mature American Citizens, I write to express our support for H.R. 5596, the Personalized Care Act.
AMAC has long supported the use of Health Savings Accounts (HSA) as a means of increasing financial freedom for Americans as they manage their health care expenditures. Our members regularly tell us that they desire more personal control over their health care, free from government intrusion and mandates.
H.R. 5596 uncomplicates health care and puts Americans in charge of their care by expanding HSAs to pay for direct primary care, health sharing ministries, insurance premiums and medications. This expansion of options for HSAs is precisely what is needed in health care – the opportunity to tailor care specific to an individual’s needs with tax-free dollars.
Thank you for recognizing how past approaches to “fixing” the American health care system have led to politically motivated laws that only made it more complicated and unaffordable. As we begin another critical discussion on health care reform, the Personalized Care Act serves to advance the goal of truly making health care more affordable and accessible.
As an organization whose members identify the cost of health care as a top concern, AMAC is committed to collaborating on free-market solutions that drive transparency, choice and competition as contributing facets to lower costs and increase the quality of care. We applaud this effort to give Americans an individualized approach to health care and are pleased to offer our organization’s full support for the Personalized Care Act.
Sincerely,
Bob Carlstrom
President, AMAC Action
